New Construction
Planning a plumbing project involves three main phases that outline the progression of the work. These phases are called slab plumbing, rough plumbing, and trim plumbing. Understanding these stages is important to know what to expect throughout your project. Each phase has its own essential tasks that contribute to creating a reliable and effective plumbing system.
1. Slab Plumbing
This marks the initial phase of constructing the plumbing system. Once the batter boards outline the building’s exterior or the basement walls have been poured with concrete, the underground drain and vent system, along with any necessary water lines, are installed beneath the concrete foundation.
2. Rough Plumbing
In this second stage, after the concrete slab foundation is poured and the structural framing is complete, we proceed to install the drain and vent system, hot and cold water supply systems, tubs/showers, and shower valves. This installation occurs in the walls and ceilings of the building above the concrete foundation, before they are enclosed with sheet rock.
3. Trim Plumbing
The third and final stage occurs after the structure has been sheet-rocked and painted, bathroom floors are finished, and cabinets and countertops are in place. At this point, we install all faucets, sink drains, tub/shower faucets, toilets, and water heaters.
